After walking half a mile they suddenly heard the other horse screaming again, she sounded weak and scared. Bandit commanded his herd to stop again and called some horses with him. With this small group they carefully walked towards the bushes, where they heard the horse calling.
There they found an exhausted and scared Arabian mare, she was in labor! It seemed like she had a lot of trouble with the birth. She looked scared and helpless at the horses which were curiously watching her. Softly she whinnied at them, asking for help. Sharida stepped forward, she was an experienced mother horse. Bandit and some of the other horses turned back, the mare was no thread to the herd. Sharida and Aileen stayed with the mare to help her deliver her foal.
It seemed to take ages for the foal to get born, apparently there were quite some complications. Finally the foal had arrived, it was clear now why the mare was is so much trouble and pain, the foal was huge! The mare was very thankful to Sharida and Aileen for their help and she told them her name was Yamirah. Also she asked if they had seen her mate, a dark brown stallion with orange mane and tail. Sharida and Aileen felt a shock going through their body, the stallion! Now they knew why he attacked them, he wanted to protect his mare, which was very vulnerable.
Would he have survived the fight?
